Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine has a unique style that combines R&B with soul, gospel music, and R&B. She's performed on Broadway, during the Democratic National Convention and in European festivals and clubs. Sunshine's given title is Denise White. While she now lives in Atlanta the place she was raised is Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical path began at church, where she sang and performed piano. In Atlanta she was a student at Spellman College where her musical education began in Atlanta's R&B Scene. In 2005 she took on the role of the drummer in Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 to serve as the Choral Director for Dreamgirls which was a stage production at Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was the subject of national media notice during the four performances during the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at the Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
